Disposable Columns

Cross-contamination is a significant problem faced by multi-product manufacturers, particularly in the biopharmaceutical industry. Disposable manufacturing products eliminate cross-contamination risks and reduce the down-time for cleaning validation and cleaning procedures.

Nearly all process steps in biopharmaceuticals production are now available in some kind of disposable format except for capture chromatography. The main reasons for the lack of disposable chromatography solutions are the complexity and cost of packed bed production columns, which need to be designed for pressure. Innovations in Rhobust implementation have exploited the simple design and operation of fluidised columns to enable the creation of disposable, plastic columns that are not limited in size, a first for the industry.
