Distribution System

An innovative fluid distribution system uses large diameter inlet and outlet systems, effectively eliminating the well known clogging problem experienced with packed bed designs.

The inlet valve is located at the base of the column and raw material enters the column through large diameter holes in the hollow tubes of a Rotating Fluid Distributor.

When the adsorption process is running the Rotating Fluid Distributor gently rotates, creating a sweeping motion along the entire cross-section of the column. Due to the gentle stirring action of the distributor, non-turbulent conditions are maintained in the expanded bed except for a narrow zone at the bottom of the column where the raw material is efficiently mixed with the adsorbent. The very high density of the adsorbent ensures a stable bed right above the efficiently mixed zone. This "open" system effectively eliminates the risk of clogging while an efficient adsorption is maintained in the entire expanded bed.
