Dual-Pump

A key development for Rhobust™ is the use of two pumps to independently control the flow rate; an inlet pump to force the feedstream into the bottom of the column, and an outlet pump to extract liquid from the top of the column.

The dual-pump system prevents the column from being sealed and does not generate backpressure and can be directly scaled for commercial scale operation.

The use of two pumps makes it possible to adjust the surface of the liquid inside the column independently of the surface of the expanded adsorbent bed, which improves process control.

The two pumps may be combined with ultrasound monitoring of the liquid surface and the expanded adsorbent bed surface in order to automate and monitor the entire expanded bed adsorption process.
